
Since Michigan was out of timeouts, a technical foul was called which solidified the win for North Carolina as they were already up by 2 with only a few seconds remaining. It was in this championship game where Webber dribbled the ball up the court into a trap where he called timeout. Webber led the team in points for three of the six games and in rebounds for four games. The Wolverines made it to the National Championship again. Again, Webber led the Big Ten in rebounds (362) while leading the Big Ten in blocks (91) as well. Again, Webber showed how dominant he was at his position by the glass as well as putting the ball into the basket. His sophomore year would go down as his final year at Michigan as well as his best. For his efforts in the NCAA tournament, he was voted to the 1992 NCAA All-Tournament and All-Region teams.

Webber won the Big Ten Rookie of the Year award as well as the USBWA Freshman of the Year. He averaged a double-double per game with 15.5 PPG and 10.0 RPG which helped lead the Wolverines to the National Championship.

Webber dominated the backboard throughout the season and accumulated a Big Ten-leading 340 rebounds and a Big Ten-leading 54 steals. In his freshman year, he instantly started for Michigan as a forward. He was the #1 recruit in the class of 1991 and picked Michigan among many other options. While none of the players ever won a championship, their legacy remains enshrined in Michigan basketball history. The Fab Five consists of four All-American recruits from the 1991 recruiting class, Chris Webber, Jalen Rose, Juwan Howard, and Jimmy King, and a top 85 recruit, Ray Jackson. The most well-known Michigan basketball team is known as the “Fab Five”.
